I agree that a lot of technology is surmountable if you have the right attitude. I always tell my husband when he has a problem with his computer, "tell yourself, 'ok this is easy, I can solve this.'" Then I encourage him to slowly go through the steps as you describe. Unfortunately he doesn't have the temperment and I usually end up solving the problem.
