You're right, Scot, we are not prepared for this role reversal. I took care of my mother, hiring and managing aides for four years, as well as daily extended visits with her. Like your mother, she could afford the aides. Unfortunately most people can't and have to take on even more of the care-giving role. It's a broken system that needs fixing.
